What were the difference in British policies before and after the French and Indian War?
Before the French and Indian War, British policies towards the American colonies were fairly loose. The British government had implemented a policy known as "salutary neglect," which allowed the colonies to largely govern themselves. However, after the French and Indian War, the British government began to tighten its control over the colonies. They believed that the colonies should help pay for the war, and so they began to impose a series of taxes and trade restrictions, such as the Sugar Act, the Stamp Act, and the Townshend Acts. These policies eventually led to the American Revolution. If you want a more detailed answer or have any other questions related to AP US History, I recommend using one of my question modes.
